Carter Waddell is a Senior Vice President at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Prior to joining Bank of America, Waddell worked with several leading U.S. commercial banks including Citibank, Chase Bank, HSBC, and SunTrust. Waddell has spent over 30 years working directly with U.S. and foreign multinational corporations assisting them to expand their sales both within the United States as well as overseas.
At SunTrust Bank, Waddell served as the General Manager of the International Division having the trade finance, correspondent banking, and international operation’s departments reporting to him. Prior to managing the division, he was the senior multinational banker and senior trade finance officer and was the country manager responsible for country exposure and correspondent banking in Canada, Asia and the Middle East.
Over an 18-year period, Waddell traveled extensively to these overseas markets supporting US exports and foreign direct investment into Virginia. During this time, Waddell traveled with four Virginia governors on overseas trade missions. While at SunTrust Bank (Crestar Bank),
Waddell was integral in helping Crestar win the coveted E Award and E Star Awards for the bank’s support of US exporters. In addition to serving on the Virginia – DC District Export Council, Waddell previously served on the DECs in Georgia and Arizona. Waddell also served on the board of directors of the Virginia International Business Council, Hampton Roads Global Commerce Council, World Trade Center in Atlanta, Asia Society in Washington, DC, Japan American Society in Georgia, and the British American Business Council in Phoenix
